PAINTINGS IN OIL – Imagine With Me

My art work has always been for my own entertainment and an outlet for my creative urges. With no formal training, it’s been a “hit and miss” process of learning. With many “misses”. I’ve heard it said that many artists have loads of paintings tucked away that they don’t know what to do with. And some they would like to display. I’ve picked out a few. The photos do not reveal the true richness of the oil paint.

Over the years there were long stretches where I didn’t paint at all. Then it would return. Now in retirement years, I’ve been at it more steadily. Nature inspires me. Flowers. Animals. Birds.

Pareidolia ( the human ability to see shapes and pictures in random things ) became a great way to entertain myself with painting. A good imagination and the ability to visualize helps in this process. First, choose a color scheme. Then just randomly paint those colors on a canvas, sort of in blotches. Then sit back and gaze at it, probably in several different sessions, until an image or images begin to stand out in your imagination. The paintings that were done in that way are labeled “pareidolia” in their description.
